Gmail Reply from Notification bar

The Gmail app for Android received an update today that can be downloaded and installed through the Google Play Store.  The update is actually quite useful, so right off the bat I would recommend updating the app at your earliest convenience.  Specifically, the updated Gmail app allows you to reply or archive an email directly from the notification bar.  This way, you do not need to open the app to perform these functions.

Unfortunately, this portion of the app update is available for users running Android 4.1 or higher, which is not a huge majority of Android users, but a welcomed feature nonetheless.  Secondly, the update offers faster searches even in offline mode, and this applies to Android 4.0 users and up.  Since there are many Android users now on ICS, this is a nice improvement.

I have already updated the app on my Nexus 4 and gave the reply and archive function a whirl.  Both work as you would expect, and I am sure many Gmail users will take advantage of this feature.
