HP first entered the tablet scene with its HP TouchPad 10 inch model running webOS. While we know the outcome of that particular event in HP’s history, we learned HP’s hardware played rather nicely with Android. For example, many purchased the TouchPad after its fire sale with the intent of installing Android on it. Speaking personally, I was fortunate enough to find a TouchPad during the fire sale and am proudly running a CM9 nightly.
It appears HP is ready to tackle the tablet landscape once again with an official Android tablet this time. In MWC 2013, HP announced its Slate 7 running Android 4.1. The Slate 7 offers a 7 inch display, dual-core 1.6GHz Cortex A-9 processor, 3MP rear facing camera, VGA front facing camera, and Beats Audio integration. On the software side, the Slate 7 offers Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.
In terms of pricing, the Slate 7 will retail for $169 starting in April, which is quite an affordable price tag coming from a reputable vendor. Whether or not the HP Slate 7 can penetrate an Android tablet market dominated by the Nexus 7, Nexus 10, and Kindle Fire remains to be seen.

I got two Touchpads on the sale and both are running CM9 n The Slate is samller, I wonder if I would like one that is smaller.
