Starting today, LG is pushing out a new software update to its L series of Android smartphones, which includes the L3, L5, and L7. The update brings a new feature known as QuickMemo to these devices.
The QuickMemo feature is a new way for users to take notes directly on a screen they wish to capture. Essentially, the QuickMemo app will take a screen shot of whatever media (web page, photo, video, game, etc) your screen is currently displaying. After the screen shot is taken, you can edit it with words, notes, or drawings. After you finish annotating on the screen shot, you can easily send it to your friends through email, MMS, or social networks.
QuickMemo can easily be launched by holding down volume up and volume down at the same time, or launching it through the notification bar. I like LG’s incorporation of hardware keys to launch the application, since it would be annoying to quit whatever you are doing and launch it from the app drawer.
The software update is rolling out today in select regions, but the L3, L5, and L7 around the world will each receive the update by the end of Q3.
