LevelUp Studio is known for good looking apps like the Twitter/Facebook client Plume and the weather and clock pack Beautiful Widgets. Now the company is trying its hands at gaming with a new puzzler known as Peti – People for the Ethical Treatment of Invaders.
Peti is about “invaders” that are really just cute little aliens that are lost on Earth. Players must help them get back to their mother by matching 3 or more blocks of the same color as the invader. The more blocks used, the more points earned on that level. If the player doesn’t clear the board in time, the alien mother freaks out and destroys the planet, meaning you lose the game.
Tetris fans may get a sense of familiarity when playing Peti. The way players tap to rotate blocks or swipe to reposition and make them fall faster is reminiscent of the classic game. One change is that you can unlock special powers like changing block colors or destroying existing blocks in your path in order to make the more difficult levels easier to conquer. There are 12 special powers, and they will all come in handy as you try to reunite all the little critters.
Peti is available for free in Google Play. There are 4 different sets of levels and 20 achievements to unlock. Purchasing the premium version will unlock new features, so try the game out and upgrade if it appeals to you. The game requires Android 2.0.1 or higher.
