Color started out as a photo-sharing app, but it has since transitioned into a live video-sharing app that has been picking up steam thanks to a partnership with Verizon. Now the company is seeking to reward those users who keep coming back by sending out a free macro lens.
The way it works is that Color has a number of macro lenses that can attach to the rear of your phone and increase the detail that someone can capture with up close subjects. Anyone in the United States who installs both the Color for Android app and the Color for Facebook app, links the two and then broadcasts five live videos will then be eligible to receive one of the lenses. Color will continue to give them out from June 18 to September 30, 2012 or until supplies or while supplies last. (Click here for a complete list of rules.)
I’ve used the macro lens pictured in the giveaway, a Fusitu GZ worth about $7.50, and it’s a cheap but decent lens. It actually has both a macro mode for macro photography and video and a wide lens that expands the field of vision of the camera. I used it on my Kodak Zi8 because the default camera view was too tight. The lens snaps on to your phone thanks to a magnet that sticks around the rim of the phone’s rear camera.
