The LG Optimus L3 is the least expected of LG’s new line of smartphones, but it’s the first one to be released, at least in Europe. The entry-level Android-based handheld will be made available to European technology geeks on a budget at a still unspecified date in March and will follow with Asian and US launches soon afterwards.

You probably already noticed the lack of ‘’might’’ or ‘’could’’ in that first paragraph and that’s due to the fact that this information is actually official and comes straight from LG’s press bureau. However, I can’t understand for the life of me why the Koreans are still quiet about the L5 and L7’s releases, the two smartphones that we are all eagerly awaiting for.

Getting back to the Optimus L3, this is a pretty stylish 3.2-incher, but that’s pretty much all we can praise so far, because its tech specs and features are pretty poor, to say the least. The L3 is set to sport a 240 x 320 pixels resolution screen and will be powered by an 800 MHz processor.

On the back of the device there’s only a 3.15-megapixel camera, while in terms of software, the smartphone will of course run Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Even though we still don’t know what the L3 will exactly weigh or measure, as far as we could tell from the first official photos, this is a pretty slim and fashionable piece of technology equipment. It is also set to come with a 1,500 mAh battery, which is pretty nice considering the fact that it will most likely be made available for a low price point (probably around 190 or 200 bucks).

The guys at LG have yet to confirm the first countries to release the Optimus L3, but the UK is most definitely set to be one of the first to see the smartphone in its shelves. Russia and Asia will soon follow, while we still have no idea when and if the device will come to the US. However, rumors state that Americans will enjoy this affordable gadget as well and, even though it might not come in March to the US of A, it will most likely be released sometime in April or May.
