Sony Xperia S hands-on: will this phone capture or break my heart? [Video]

Just a few hours ago, I said that the Sony Xperia Ion was a phone worth keeping an eye on. But that was only for AT&T customers. If you aren’t an AT&T subscriber, or are one and willing to consider jumping ship at some point, here’s another device that’s really worth tracking.
The Sony Xperia S is frisking gorgeous. I’m forcing myself to contain my excitement because Sony has hurt me before with a flashy piece of hardware that didn’t meet the hype, but we’re off to a good start here. Sony has given the 4.3 screen a high resolution that looks exceptional. It’s based on the Bravia engine, the same kind of technology that powers Sony’s television.
All of the credentials look great for this particular device, except for the software. Sony has a customized version of Android 2.3 with promises to upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich. My father use to tell me that a promise is a comfort to a fool (an old saying) and I’ve been burned by companies over-promising in the past. For now, let’s just say that things are off to a good start. Take a look at the hands-on video below because there are some very interesting specs. (more specs below the video)
