Joining the recently announced Motorola DROID 4 are two other DROID smartphones.  While these are simply variations of the original Motorola DROID RAZR, both smartphones each have an interesting aspect.

First, we have the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX, which is the DROID RAZR but with a bigger battery that will get you through 21 hours of straight talking on a full charge.  For Android smartphones, never mind 4G LTE smartphones, that is simply unheard of.  One of the main complaints about the DROID RAZR is the disappointing battery life, but the DROID RAZR MAXX should alleviate those complaints.  Unfrotunately, it won’t be razor thin anymore, but that’s a small price to pay for a longer battery life.  It will cost $299 on a two year contract when it launches in the near future.

Secondly, we have the same Motorola DROID RAZR but in a purple finish.  It retains the same thinness, and same mediocre battery life.  However, the DROID RAZR in purple will be available for only $199 on a two year contract.  Given the lowered price point on the purple DROID RAZR, it is likely the black and white models price will be decreased to $199 as well.  Earlier today, we saw the HTC Rezound receive a price cut to $199, so perhaps Verizon is decreasing the price on its 4G LTE models to make way for newer devices such as the DROID RAZR MAXX and LG Spectrum.
