VectorNav VPE delivers more accurate Android sensor technology, better gaming experience

In the midst of all the talk about multi-core processors and different screen types, people often forget about the importance of sensors. The rarely-considered gyroscope, orientation, and other sensors play a crucial role in the smoothness and enjoyability of games.

VectorNav believes it can illustrate that importance even better than the default sensor software/hardware set-ups that ship with most Android phones. With its Vector Processing Engine (VPE), VectorNav says it can provide a more accurate, stable, and faster responding system. The VPE has better recognition and “drift-free” orientation, so it can be more effective in apps that rely on movement detection.

The value of the VPE can be most appreciated in gaming. Imagine you play Need For Speed, Speedx, Labrinyth, or any other title that relies on rotating or tilting the phone in different directions. These are games that rely on accurate movement tracking, so having smooth, pinpoint sensor recognition is huge. The better the orientation and motion transition, the better the gaming experience.

I met someone from VectorNav last month who gave a demo of how noticeable a difference his company can provide. The only problem is that a developer must include VectorNav’s libraries, so end users can’t directly improve performance. Android developers can download the VPE app from the Android Market in order to see the demo for themselves, as well as link their apps and games with the company’s libraries.
