Motorola today announced two updated versions to its first Android tablet, the Xoom. Both tablets are pretty identical when it comes to features. The Motorola Xoom 2 and Xoom 2 Media Edition both run Android 3.2, have a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of local storage, 5 megapixel camera with LED flash on the back, 1.3 megapixel camera on the front, splashguard coating and Gorilla glass construction.

The only noticeable differences between the two is screen size. The Xoom 2 keeps the same 10.1-inch display, but its much slimmer than the original Xoom at 8.8 mm. The Media Edition sports an 8.2-inch screen with impressive surround sound quality for those of you who like to bump your favorite tunes. Other features include a preloaded remote control app and some “special” display optimisation for wide viewing angles for video.

These two tablets will also include this new featured app called MotoCast. The new app lets users stream all their music, photos, videos and documents between a PC or Mac and tablet without any media tools, apps, or cords. This MotoCast app was shown off in the recent launching of the Motorola RAZR.

Dicsussing the launch of its latest Android Tablet in the UK, Victoria McManus, marketing director UK & Ireland, Motorola Mobility said in a release:

“Tablets are quickly becoming a must-have tool for staying connected, getting work done and having fun at home and on the road.” She continued saying “We are very excited about these two new additions to our tablet portfolio that build on the success of the original Motorola XOOM to now deliver more powerful tablet experiences to the European market.”

That said, Motorola did offer some pretty cool cosmetic changes, but didn’t blow us away with specs when compared to the original Xoom, truth is, these Xoom 2 models don’t make huge improvements in brute strength. Starting in the middle of November the UK and Ireland will get their hands on this. There’s no word on a official release in the states.
