Color me stupid. After I said on Twitter yesterday that there was no way Google and Samsung would be dumb enough to announce the Nexus Prime in Hong Kong at a time when most U.S. journalists are in bed, look what lands in my inbox:

The Samsung/Google media event has been rescheduled to take place on October 19 in Hong Kong, China. The event starts at 10:00 a.m. HKT with doors opening at 9:30 a.m. HKT. The event livestream will be available at YouTube.com/Android at 10 p.m. EST on October 18 for U.S. media who cannot attend the event.

Since it’s awfully short notice and I don’t think I can expense a $2,000 trip to Hong Kong at the last minute, I think I’m going to have to settle for the YouTube link like the rest of you. (Believe me, If I could pay for that trip, I’d be on Hotwire or Travelocity right now.)

On the bright side, at least we can finally put this Ice Cream Sandwich noise to bed once and for all. I’m sure you’ve grown tired of the rumors, fake leaks, real leaks, and theories about the real reasons that it did not show up at CTIA. We sure as heck are. All that matters now is that it’s officially coming and we’ll finally see the Nexus Prime (or whatever the heck it’s officially called) and Android 4.0 (or whatever the heck version number is officially assigned to Ice Cream Sandwich).

Put the kids to bed and get ready for some fun next week.
