What’s up, haters? Thinking about getting a new phone? Well maybe it’s time you took a look at the Samsung Galaxy S II for T-Mobile, the follow-up to last year’s Samsung Vibrant. And while it may be easy to surpass the old-news-Vibrant, that doesn’t mean it will be easy to take on the fresh meat from HTC. Can the Galaxy S II be the best T-Mobile Android phone?
The GS II was a big leap forward when it debuted at Mobile World Congress 2011. But after months of success in Europe, and a predictable hardware change before it arrived in the United States, the Galaxy is here to push the boundaries of what people expect from their smartphone. We’ve already seen the specs of the phone, but Samsung didn’t let us actually hold the device at its launch party. It’s now ready to be tenderized.
Below is our Samsung Galaxy S II unboxing video. If the title and opening lines weren’t enough of a clue, it’s based on the bacon-fueled cooking show known as Epic Meal Time. Why parody a cooking show for a phone review? Well, I’m sure you’ve seen hundreds of unboxing videos by now, and they are pretty much all the same. I thought you might enjoy a change of pace by throwing in some borderline NSFW humor as we discuss the specs and first impressions of the device. I hope it’s all to your liking. (Feel free to leave comments below even if you don’t.)
A full review of the Galaxy S II for T-Mobile will be released later this week. We’ll try to get to as many questions as we possibly can. One of those questions was benchmarks. Here is a video showing Linpack, Quadrant, and Neocore results of Qualcomm’s 1.5 GHz processor. I don’t put as much faith in benchmarks as most people – they are indicators, not definitive representations – but here’s a look at how it fairs in that regard.
