Three things I learned from my trip to Texas last year: the BBQ’s good, people are just as obsessed with football as the media would have you believe, and the Lonestar State hosts one of the best Android events around.
The Big Android BBQ will light up Austin, Texas, on October 1st and 2nd, and Androinica.com will be on hand to celebrate. In case you haven’t heard, the Android BBQ is a two-day event at which Android enthusiasts from around the country meet-up, eat good food, and talk about their favorite mobile OS. Informal panels, presentations, and night-time hangouts happen on Day 1, and a big barbecue with giveaways, product demos, and socializing takes place the following day.
The inaugural BBQ last year was a fun time. I got to meet a few readers and notable names from the Android community, and the same is expected to happen this year. Team Douche of CyanogenMod fame, XDA Developers, HTC, LG, Motorola, and more are on-tap to appear. Are you?
Early-bird tickets for the BBQ are only $25 if purchased by August 31, 2011, and the cost becomes $30 afterward. Ticketing information, as well as ride-sharing programs and hotel discounts, can be located at BigAndroidBBQ.com. The event takes place October 1st and 2nd, and I hope to see you there. Have a look at a recap video shot in 2010 if you still need convincing (spoiler alert: this year should be even better).
