Motorola Milestone Plus brings Droid Pro to Cellular South

Early today, Cellular South announced that it has released its own version of a BlackBerry style Android phone. Much like Verizon’s Droid Pro or the Motorola XPRT offered by Sprint, Cellular South joins the party by dropping its Milestone Plus. The smartphone offers a 3.1-inch touchscreen and essentially looks like a BlackBerry with its portrait-style keyboard.

Lets dig into the specs shall we. The Milestone Plus has a 1GHz processor, 4GB of internal storage, support for microSD cards up to 32GB in capacity, portrait QWERTY keyboard, front-facing camera and a 5 megapixel camera with flash and autofocus. It also provides full push corporate e-mail with corporate level security, data encryption, Quickoffice Mobile Suite, and Adobe Flash Player 10.1.

Now for the bad news, Motorola did not upgrade the version of Android that was seen on the XPRT and DROID Pro before bringing it over to Cellular South, as the Milestone Plus still runs Android 2.2 Froyo. So basically, customers will have to wait it out for their serving of tasty Gingerbread. Bad, Motorola. Bad.

Cellular South customers can pick up the Milestone Plus now for $199.99 with a new two-year agreement. You will also get a $50 mail-in reward card with your purchase. This is a pretty good deal for those who love Android and QWERTY keypads.
