Foursquare for Android updated, bringing a redesign and sharing controls to mobile [App Updates]

Social apps are probably some of the most popular apps in the mobile space. Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ are all apps that I use multiple times a day. They are also on the list of apps I install first on a new device. Another app on that same level is Foursquare.

If you aren’t already aware of what Foursquare is, then let me help you out. The idea behind Foursquare all revolves around location sharing. You add your friends, travel places, and use GPS to check-in to various venues. You have the ability to earn points, and even badges for various special check-ins.

It seems like Foursquare is one of the best Android developers among the major social players. Just about a month ago, they released an update that was, at the time, an Android exclusive. Now, they have updated their app again, bringing some much needed features to the mobile experience.

The changes I am talking about are the ability to control sharing of check-ins via the app and a nice interface redesign. While the interface was nice before, its even better now. The title bars and tabs are cleaner, and there is now a check-in button on the main bar. Those changes make the app an overall nicer app.

The other change that i am excited about is the ability to control sharing of check-ins and events to other networks. Specifically, the mobile app is now capable of connecting to Facebook and Twitter, as well as controlling what is shared to those networks. I have wanted this feature for a while, and am happy to now have it.
