Verizon announced on Thursday that they are offering 3 phone deals in a “Back To School” program. The phones in question are the DROID 3, DROID X2, and the Xperia Play. While the prices for the first two are worth mentioning at $199.99 with contract, the big news from Verizon is the price drop on the Xperia Play to $99.99 with a 2 year contract.
As for the two DROID branded handsets, there is a little bit of incentive if you are shopping for more than one person. VZW is offering them up in a BOGO (Buy One Get One) deal. So if you and your significant other need new phones, be sure to consider the DROID 3 and DROID X2.
In case you don’t remember it, the Xperia Play is the legendary PlayStation Phone that was launched by Sony Erricson a few months ago. It comes equipped with a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU and an Adreno 205 GPU, front and rear facing cameras, and the iconic PlayStation buttons, D-pad, and thumb control pads.
It is touted as the first real gaming phone, and comes packing a number of exclusive and preloaded games, including: Madden NFL 11, Bruce Lee Dragon Warrior, Asphalt 6: Adrenaline, The Sims 3, Star Battalion, Crash Bandicoot, and Tetris. There are also over 100 games specifically optimized for the Xperia Play.
