BankAtlantic has recently launched an Android version of their mobile banking app. While they’ve had an iOS application out, the Android version has just landed for all you Florida bankers/customers out there. The app is free in the Android Market and comes with a nice, standard set of features.

You can check your account balances, transfer funds around, view your transaction history, and “get GPS guidance to locate the BankAtlantic branch or ATM location nearest you”. The UI looks plain with a white and grey color scheme, but I’m sure this is still better than using the browser from your phone for your banking needs. While I don’t have a BankAtlantic account, these features will generally make keeping up with your bank account easier if you are a customer.

It’s also nice to see large corporations and banks getting on the Android bandwagon after already releasing an iOS app. While they used out-dated stats (300,000 activations daily, scoff, try 500,000), it’s a very good sign for Android that companies like BankAtlantic are noticing the upward trend of Android, and will hopefully light the way for many more businesses that only have an iOS app to get in on the Android party. If you use BankAtlantic, leave a comment to let us know how well you like the app and if there are any additional features you would like to see.
