Screw the iPhone. When will someone make a white Android phone?

Ever since the iPhone 4 debuted, people have lusted for a white version of Apple’s popular phone. If you follow the major tech sites, you’ve probably seen at least two articles on this every week. Congrats to the iOS bunch for finally getting your Great White Buffalo phone, but I can’t help but wonder when the heck a cell phone manufacturer will do the same for an Android phone.
Actually, I recall the T-Mobile G1 and myTouch phones supporting white versions, but none of the major Android releases that are often compared to the iPhone (Motorola Droid X, HTC EVO, etc.) come in all-white editions. Several manufacturers have dipped their brush into the paint can, but few Android phone makers – in the United States, at least – dive in and create a phone that’s white. The closest we’ve come are Oreo phones that are black on the front and white on the back, the latest such example being a Samsung Nexus S.
It’s hard to care too much about color when there’s a new Android phone released every other day, each offering its own unique combination of processor, screen, and form factor. But however trivial or insignificant that may seem, the nerdgasms ignited by a white iPhone should have made someone consider exploring with colors more boldly. Companies have had enough inclination to make a white back for their phones, and HTC’s red accents on the EVO and Droid Incredible were lovely but hidden away. It’s like they all start to think of ways to change things up but get stopped along the way. Maybe there are fears about extra costs or people not wanting to break tradition.
The color trends in the U.S. seem to play it safe when it comes to phones. Why hasn’t someone shown some guts and released a phone that isn’t yet another slab of metal or black plastic? Where’s the milky-white Droid Incredible 2 or the devilish red Droid X?
And if either finally does arrive, would you buy it?

While it's odd that there isn't a flood of white Android phones already, I would never buy one.
Don't want one, don't care. I like black phones just fine. The red on my Evo annoyed me at first, but with my extended battery case on, no red is visible anymore.
I like gradients and brushed metal colors.
or the HTC Magic/MT3G? Y'know, the second android phone…
I mention that phone in the article. It's been a while since it was release (almost 2 years I think) and few of the major phones since then have done it.
Oreo phones? THAT'S RACIST!
Racist? That's crazy talk. Every race loves Oreos…they're delicious!
Do white phones do something special that black ones don't? The only colors I care about are the ones on my screen since it stays in my pocket when I'm not using it.
nexus s on at&t – you run a blog site?????????????????????????????????????????
MY apologies. read your article pretty quickly………. i was wrong.
Sony Ericsson X10a special edition at best buy. But we all know how that turned out. A little to late into North America android game.
I got a white HTC Desire and don't forget the SE Xperia X8.
As ridiculous as it sounds, this was a major complaint/deciding factor for a female friend of mine when she was choosing a new T-Mobile handset. She wound up with a MyTouch 4G.
i got white Sony Ericsson Xperia x10
:D
Buy some white out if you want a white phone… ha ha ha. I am more interested in power and function that the phone color.
Didn't Best Buy sell a white Evo?
Sorry, just found out that the white was only the back plate.
X10 is also white (2010) and obviously SE always make most beatiful phones
Several of Sony Ericsson's androids have had white variants….
I have a Samsung Galaxy S with a white battery cover, true it is not all white, but one of the few that have an option at least.
White HTC Desire (original) has been around for almost as the black one has (if you can call that color black)
Galaxy S has had white battery cover for some time ………..also Sony Xperia X10 came with 2 options Black or white
