HTC Tablets, Sprint

Sprint beefed up its tablet offering by announcing that it will soon offer the HTC EVO View. First introduced at Mobile World Congress as the HTC Flyer, the EVO View will be the Sprint-branded version of HTC’s first Android tablet.

The EVO View joins Sprint’s network as what is arguably the best option for an Android tablet. The View ships with a 1.5 GHz processor, 32 GB of internal storage, a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, and a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera for video chat. The 7-inch LCD screen has a 1024×600 resolution that displays the tablet-optimized version of Sense, which is built on-top of Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).

Sprint will provide its own touch to the EVO View by attaching some of its value-added services. EVO View buyers can expect the tablet to come pre-loaded with Sprint content like Blockbuster On Demand® to rent or purchase video, Sprint Zone, Sprint Mobile Wallet, Sprint Football Live, Sprint Family Locator, Sprint Navigation and NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile.

Aside from not running the stock Android Honeycomb interface, the EVO View also sticks out because of HTC Scribe, a pen-oriented platform that provides additional options for writing on the tablet. A special stylus that ships with the EVO View makes this tablet one of the strongest options for note-taking and doodling, which could come in handy for students, secretaries, designers, and other professions interested in this style of data-entry and editing. As previously stated in my Fly or Fail of HTC column, this could be a gift or curse.
