I guess this is part of the reason why Notion Ink wanted to start with limited access pre-orders, because they’ve hit another snag. It seems that there was damage to part of a touch screen shipment, so Notion Ink decided to cancel the entire batch rather than checking each part individually. The extra delay comes from the fact that the bad shipment came just two days before Chinese New Year, but the manufacturing company, Sintek, has agreed to work through the holidays to fill the order. According to Rohan Shravan this delay only effects 5.31% of the Notion Ink Adam shipments.
We were able to get our hands on a copy of the e-mail sent out by Notion Ink to inform customers of the delay, and in it the Notion Ink support team estimates the new “date of your shipment would be 14th February 2011 (Buffer included).”
Just another bump in the road, but overall not such a bad delay. At least, it’s impressive that they got the manufacturer to work through the New Years holiday to catch up on the order.
