We’ve heard the rumors that glasses-free stereoscopic 3D displays are coming to Android devices soon, and it looks like LG is going to be showing that to us sooner rather than later. LG has put out a teaser for an event at the Mobile World Conference which will unveil an LG Optimus phone in a “New Dimension”. It seems like a pretty safe assumption that means a 3D display Optimus.
The event will be held on Valentine’s Day, February 14th at 11AM Barcelona time, which puts it at 5AM in east coast America and 2AM on the west coast.
I’m still not sold on 3D displays on phones. I just don’t see that there’s much value to be added, and all the buzz I’m hearing about the upcoming Nintendo 3DS is that the 3D makes your eyes hurt after a fairly short time. We’ll just have to wait and see, I guess.

While the utility of the feature is questionable, the marketing leverage it provides is enormous. I imagine it's much harder to promote a quality phone sporting an up-to-date stock Android installation and not having any "innovative" and "revolutionary" stuff on board. I'm all for innovation, differentiation and marketing, i just want to see what value devs bring with 3D screens. i don't want the trend to catch on, until almost all phones have the feature, which I won't want, but will be forced to pay for.
