Facebook for Android has been updated to version 1.5.1, and the latest release from the humongous social network adds support for local deals. The idea is that you via the Facebook app will be able to get free offers, savings, and special deals from nearby businesses.
To see if you have any local deals available, you need to check in to Facebook’s Places feature. The latest Facebook version also includes a number of bug fixes, and the changelog on the Market lists chat and push notifications as well, but those additions have been around for a while.
I know that Facebook for Android has received a lot of criticism since it first was released in September 2009, and that many people still think it’s so-so. However, I actually think the Facebook app is quite alright now. I just wish that we could see if we have any new notifications directly from the news feed, like on the mobile website, so we don’t have to go to a separate section of the app for that.
What new features would you like to see in Facebook for Android?
Update: Facebook has not stated whether or not the new Deals feature is available everywhere, or only in the U.S. Please drop a comment if you’ve been able to find deals outside America.

Could we clarify if deals is only open to US or if this new android app opens it up for UK too?
Mashable is reporting that it is US only.
Id like to be able to post pics to Groups
Facebook's misuse of user data conerns me more and more every day. Time to randomly change some of my inaccurate data to different inaccurate data.
USA It's not America. America it's a whole continent!! I know you U.S. Citizens don't give a shit… but I had to say that one more time. XD It would be funny if the Germans would talk about "Europe" instead of Germany LoL Oh and by the way in this site of america (Chile) the function isn't avalible yet ='( Greetings from america =D
Facebook 1.5.1 unfortunately runs in the background CONSTANTLY, until you kill it through the Applications menu – Task Killer Pro doesnt kill it. It stops FB, bu then FB jumps right back into the ring. VERY annoying. All we can do to stop this madness is to uninstall the updates, and ignore the Market's plea that "There are Updates Available" for the rest of eternity. Not to mention Google has announced In-App purchasing, perhaps signalling the end of gettting a full featured app in one purcahse from now on. And, as Engadget has mused, perhaps FREE apps that do the same or BETTER job than paid app counterparts, we just might see the end of Free apps. Possible? Is the sky falling? Or will people just go back to Smart Phones – I just might buy a New Nokia Windows 7 phone when it comes out. Or that new NokiaDroid.
