HTC Thunderbolt is Official… Officially
January 6, 2011 | by Michael Heller
HTC, Verizon

The HTC Thunderbolt is official, and packing… well, quite a lot of the same things we’ve seen from just about every other phone announced so far at CES. The official spec sheet for the Thunderbolt is:
- Verizon LTE support
- Fully integrated Skype mobile experience
- HTC Sense 2.0
- 1 GHz Snapdragon processor
- 4.3″ WVGA display
- Dolby Surround Sound
- 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with 720p video capture
- Kickstand
- Android 2.2
- 32 GB SD card included
Given all we’ve seen, the 1 GHz Snapdragon seems a little weak, even if it is the newest generation Snapdragon. While there is a front-facing camera clearly visible on the phone, there is no word on t
he quality of said camera. No word on any upgrade to Android 2.3. Also, the 32 GB SD card seems like a double edged sword. On one hand, it’s awesome, because it’s a 32 GB SD card. But, on the other hand, Google clearly wants manufacturers to include bigger internal storage which would be able to take advantage of the Ext4 file system and speed boosts with Android 2.3, and an SD card doesn’t help on that front.

I already love and own htc products and i really wanted this phone to blow me away.Didn't htc's ad say it's not your dream phone, it's the one after, really…what a joke. Aside from the front camera, and LTE what makes the phones hardware specs so much more impressive than the HD2 which is almost a year old now? The winner for me would have been a dual core and a higher-res screen. sorry HTC.
Agreed. I have been looking forward to this for months and what a major let down it has been. With all the hype HTC put on this phone I really thought it would make some waves. I love HTC Sense UI but unfortunately Motorola continues to produce much more impressive Android phones than HTC. Looks like my next phone will be the Droid Bionic….sigh.
I'm really disapointed as well. I have an HTC magic and HTC Desire and I love my phones. I was almost sure that this phone will have dual core. I really don't see how this phone can be that impressive with these specs. Looks like I will have to wait longer before replacing my Desire. I dont like Samsung and motorola, The LG Optimus X2 looks really nice but LG are not supported that much on XDA…
Does this phone have a dual-core chip as does LG Optimus 2X?
It looks very nice, I really like this phone.
