Eldar Murtazin gets his hands on the Sony Ericsson Vivaz 2 (MT15i), praises it

I remember reading mobile insider Eldar Murtazin’s surprisingly early phone previews back when Android hadn’t even been announced yet and I was a fan of Symbian 3rd Edition. I’m curious how he gets access to all the prototypes, but it’s good to see that he still often provides previews before anyone else.

This time Murtazin has examined an upcoming (and completely unannounced) Sony Ericsson handset that he calls the Vivaz 2, or the MT15i. It runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and rocks a 1500mAh battery, and a FWVGA (854 x 480) Reality Display touchscreen. Reality Displays features Sony’s Bravia engine that is said to improve colors and detail.

The original SE Vivaz is actually a Symbian powered camera phone, and Eldar praises the main camera on the MT15i and says that Sony Ericsson “has developed and is about to launch truly cutting edge devices and … has almost nothing to fear in the hardware department as well.”

The hardware, however, may be a bit disappointing to some people with all the dual-core processors flying around, but Eldar says that the 512MB of RAM and 1GHz Qualcomm MSM7630 processor with an Adreno 205 GPU resulted in a perfect phone performance. He also says that the Vivaz 2 is a mid-range device, so it may get favorable pricing.

MSM7x30 is very powerful and highly efficient SoC thanks to whom Vivaz 2 can keep up going for two days – legitimate record among big screen Android phones! You don't need Dual-Core for flawless Android experience! It's a myth set by marketing machinery of NVIDIA that's pushing misconceptions forcing manufacturers like Motorola to use heavy and expensive ~2000 mAh batteries! Vivaz 2 is perfect example that you can have affordable, yet powerful Android phone unmatched in departments like 720p recording/reproduction! What wee need for even faster Android phones is faster memory, bigger mem. capacity and faster FLASH storage (Drodi X is demonstration of fast FLASH configuration – two flash chips in RAID configuration)
