The CyanogenMod custom ROM has tens of thousands of people using it across several devices. Pretty soon, those tens of thousands of people will be running a ROM based on Gingerbread (Android 2.3).
Cyanogen announced late last night that CM7 is being tested right now. Nightly builds for several CM-supported devices are now available for people willing to test the phone; only the “brave testers” need to apply according to the announcement. There are bugs or errors sure to pop-up, but the phone should be good enough to get you through the day.
Nightly builds are test versions of ROM’s that are updated consistently as the developers prepare a release candidate. As users give feedback and errors are discovered, a more stable version emerges afterward. Users willing to dive into the new version can download the ROM for their phone at the TD Mirror site. Phones are listed by codename (Supersonic = EVO), so make sure you download the right file.
