T-Mobile is drawing on its connections to the NBA once again to promote the company. This time, “America’s Largest 4G Network” enlisted the help of Miami Heat superstar Dwyane Wade to show how its network is so fast that a simple request can spiral into a troublesome situation very quickly.
In the “Out of Here” spot, Wade is accidentally locked in a bathroom and sends a video message demanding “Get me out of here,” which fans take to mean out of Miami through a trade to another franchise. Before you know it, everyone with a myTouch 4G is passing the video along, Spike Lee and Steve Nash are appealing for Wade to come to their respective cities, and the 24-hour news cycle has already picked up the story.
T-Mobile is also launching a commercial starring NBA great Charles Barkley and Miami producers Cool n’ Dre. After watching one of Barkley’s standard TNT rants, the production duo decide to craft a song sampling his rants and the rest is history.
The spots are embedded below. NBA fans will start seeing the commercials this Saturday during the NBA’s full slate of games on Christmas Day. Catch both “Out of Here” and “Chuck’s Remix” on every game broadcast on ABC or ESPN this Saturday.
