A lot of people were disappointed when Google Instant debuted last month supporting only Android 2.2 in US English. Instant search still requires Froyo or higher, but Google has expanded support to other nations and languages.

Google Instant now supports 28 languages and 40 countries, though Google did not reveal exactly which languages and locations have been upgraded. The only countries I’ve been able to confirm are definitely supported are France and Germany, because the new images are French and German, and the U.S. and U.K. because readers told us they could use when Instant first appeared in November. To discover if your country supports Google Instant, navigate to google.com and you should see a link that says “Instant (beta) is off: Turn it on.”

Sound off in the comments if you speak Turkish, Portuguese, Cantonese, Swahili, or any other language and tell us if it works in your native land and language. For a refresher on how Google Instant Search works, view this video below.
