We know that Verizon will launch its 4G LTE network in 38 cities by the end of 2010. That means there will be a blitz of new 4G towns in less than a few weeks, and Verizon has begun airing its first commercial to announce the upcoming network.
I figured this commercial was something telecommunications-related, then realized that this is part of the carrier’s “Rule the Air” campaign touting its superior mobile network. As a young man in a rural area gets a bolt of lightning and launches it into the sky, we see that Verizon is launching its 4G LTE network in December 2010.
Verizon also updated its website to list the Droid 2 Global for sale. We have seen this device teased in leaks and even pop-up in magazines and newspaper advertisements, but this is the first time that the phone has appeared on Verizon’s website. Customers can get the Droid 2 with both CDMA and international GSM support for $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate and two-year agreement.
