With the announcement of the Sharp’s new Galapagos series of 3D handsets it’s only fitting for some hot 3D games to be announced in unison. Especially when those hot 3D games are made by one of the most popular, long lasting game makers around, CAPCOM. What’s even better is that the games are classics; Mega Man, Ghosts n’ Goblins, and Resident Evil.
The 3D games are coming to the Android platform, but really only to phones that support them which would be the Galapagos line that isn’t even out. With CAPCOM’s track record of bringing awesome titles to many platforms, I would imagine that their 3D Android offereings will be no different.
The question that begs to be asked; why not bring CAPCOM games in their classic form to the Android platform now? Don’t get me wrong, it’s always good to differentiate yourself, but with Android devices accounting for over 40% of US smartphone purchases, it makes sense to be in the game now, not wait for a one-off 3D phone that isn’t proven to show off your games.
Although their press release didn’t mention or even hint at it, maybe CAPCOM will see that Android isn’t the little OS that they make it out to be and bring their famous games to the platform for everyone. I sure could go for some shots at Gemini Man on my Incredible.
