U.S. Cellular previously confirmed that it would offer a Samsung Galaxy S phone to its customers this year, and the regional carrier has officially announced which model it would begin selling.

The Samsung Mesmerize, which shares a similar build to the Verizon-style Fascinate, is slated to be released October 27. The Mesmerize brings trademark features of the Galaxy S line: 4-inch Super AMOLED display, 1 GHz Hummingbird processor, Swype gesture text-entry, and a 5 megapixel camera. The phone ships with Android 2.1, but U.S. Cellular promises to upgrade users to Froyo later this year, and add Samsung Media Hub in the process.

U.S. Cellular begins selling the Mesmerize for $199 after $80 mail-in rebate. U.S. Cellular hopes this phone and the Belief Project that it announced last week. Belief is designed to “wake up” the wireless industry by offering protection forgiveness, faster phone upgrade tracks, online pay discount, battery swap, rewards programs, consumer-friendly contracts, and a better phone replacement.
