FrostWire for Android

FrostWire is a popular peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing program for the gnutella and BitTorrent protocols. Since it’s written in Java, FrostWire supports multiple platforms, and one of those platforms is now our own green Android. The FrostWire app has been out for awhile via direct .apk download from the official site, but it’s now available in the Android Market as well, albeit with a $4.99 price tag. You can still grab the P2P app for free from FrostWire’s site.

Since FrostWire for obvious reasons will be a quite bandwidth and data hungry application, it can only be used over Wi-Fi. Here’s a list of its features from the Market description:

  • Search & download files on millions of devices
  • Browse & download from the closest peers
  • Share files on Social Networks
  • Explore your own files
  • Chat
  • Send files
  • Control what’s shared
