Motorola is refreshingly open about the issues that have been found in the Android 2.2 update for the Droid X since it was released OTA in September, and the company has made a neat little list of the most common bugs for our convenience. The coders over at Motorola are currently working hard to fix these glitches, and a patch is on the way. Early on, there were reports about the Froyo update being plagued by audio problems – some unlucky Droid X owners couldn’t even play MP3s or stream audio after the upgrade. While a hard-reset seems to have remedied that particular mischievous behavior in most cases, here’s a list of issues that owners have experienced.
- Stuck on Moto logo after reboot – this was tough on a few owners. Very sorry about that. A fix has been developed for this and should eliminate the problem. It will be distributed in a future software release. If you are still experiencing this issue, click here.
- Random rebooting – while there always seem to be new conditions that can cause an electronic device to panic, we do have improvements coming that address and eliminate identified panic states. They will be distributed in a future software release.
- WiFi connection and stability – improvements in WiFi have been developed, to address several problem areas. They will be distributed in a future software release.
- Battery Manager “force close” errors – under some circumstances, pressing the battery icon under Menu > Settings > Battery Manager results in a forced close error. A fix has been developed for this and should eliminate the problem. It will be distributed in a future software release.
- Media won’t play – includes “sorry the player does not support this type of audio file,” custom ringtone stop working, video won’t play, etc., until after a reboot. We believe we have identified the cause of these errors. A fix has been developed for this and should eliminate the problem. It will be distributed in a future software release.
- Music files cutting off the final four seconds or so – a solution has been developed. It will be distributed in a future software release.

When I first updated my X to Froyo, I had battery manager issues. It continued after a hard reset (I reset for a completely different reason). Then one day last week, it started working again! I haven't had any problems since. Could they have silently pushed the fix to the phones?
what about the order of conversations in the text messaging app? or how it defaulted to 200 messages without warning?
Since froyo, I have had two consistent problems. The first is widgets have not been refreshing, e.g., the Accuweather and Blik calendar widgets do not refresh, and I have to power down to have them refresh. This is an intermittent problem. Sometimes they function as normally they should. The other annoying problem is that I have a keyboard, freedom pro, which does 2 things which it did not do before. First there is a lot of lag in what is displayed. I am not a fast typist. Second sometimes a letter will repeat 20 or more times before it stops. I did not have these problems prior to froyo.
The gallery app on my phone will no longer open up. Does anyone else have this problem?
mine won't either… it starts to open and then just goes back to the homescreen. the only way i can get into my gallery is through the camera app.
