Rumor: New HTC Sense coming to all current HTC Froyo devices?

Android News, HTC
Ever since the next version of HTC sense was announced last week along with the HTC Desire Z and Desire HD, it has been discussed whether or not current HTC devices will be blessed with an official upgrade. It only took days for the HTC Desire HD ROM to get dumped, and ROMs featuring the new Sense UI are already all over Android development forums. We still wouldn’t mind a beautiful, bona fide update from HTC itself, of course.
In a thread at XDA’s HTC Desire forum, members have claimed that HTC Russia has said that “there is no final decision yet” on the matter, and that Hero users would not receive an upgrade. Now some sort of semi-official confirmation that HTC devices running Android 2.2 Froyo in fact will get the new Sense UI seems to have appeared via a recent tweet from HTC Spain.

My Spanish is a little rusty to say the least, but according to Babel Fish the tweet says:
The Desire and rest of terminals with version 2.2 (Froyo) will be able to enjoy the #Htcsense a greeting
The news should be taken with a grain of salt, but if it’s true and I for one think it is: I can’t see why HTC would leave its current high-end devices out in the cold, let’s hope it won’t be long before the update arrives.

I will be attempting to root my EVO this evening, but I have a question. When one roots a device, can one still get OTA updates as per normal?
Thanks,
Kevin
Yes, Kevin, but there's a good chance that using those updates will close the root. It's best to wait a day or two while your developer creates a new rom based on the update and then load that file onto the phone.
