Android takes over Texas, Toronto, and London in October

September 29, 2010 | by Andrew Kameka

Android will have a very busy month this October. In a fitting tribute to Android’s two year-anniversary as a consumer device, large droid-centric events will take place next month in Austin, Texas; Toronto, Canada; and London, England. Not a bad way to celebrate the birth of the platform.

The biannual CTIA conference will feature Android, but only through apps being shown off at the mobile industry event held in San Francisco next week. Here’s a quick look at some other events taking place in October that focus strictly on Android. Click the links below to get more information.

October 3, Big TX Android BBQ – Austin, Texas

This is the part where I use the cliché, “Everything’s bigger in Texas” and talk about how this large gathering of Android fans across the U.S. will show up in Austin to munch on BBQ, have a few drinks, and see product demo’s and giveaways from event sponsors.

Events begin with hanging out on Friday, Oct. 1, and then panels for developers and Android fans on Saturday, Oct. 2. The main event is on Sunday. We’ll keep an eye out for Androinica readers and fans.

October 26, AndroidTO – Toronto, Canada

Canada’s first Android conference will also take place in October as 300 developers and community members meet in T.O. The event will feature technical and general talks from community members, presentations from respected speakers, and entertainment for the night.

AndroidTO keeps Toronto’s Android community informed about developer-related issues, and this conference will continue the organization’s efforts with help from the following sponsors that will be in attendance: Microsoft Canada, Google Android, TELUS, Rogers Wireless, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, FITC, BNOTIONS and The Biz Media.
