I dare not jinx it, but we could finally see some a half-decent tablet make the jump from vaporware to actual product. Velocity Micro has announced that its Cruz Reader and Cruz Tablet are ready for pre-order and will ship next month. I know, I know, you’ve heard this story before, but Velocity Micro promises that it’s almost here.

The Cruz Reader will soon be available to ship in “late September” according to Cruzreader.com. For $199, you’ll get a 7-inch, 800×600 color touch screen; 256 MB RAM, 256 MB ROM with 4GB SD card included; the Borders eBook library, available to sync across devices; built-in WiFi (802.11b/g); and a Cruz Market for apps available to install. The reader claims 10+ hours of battery life with active use.

An additional $100 will get you the Cruz Tablet, which has near similar, but souped-up features. The difference is that it supports a screen geared more towards video, 802.11n Wifi, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage/8GB SD card included, more video support, microphone and headphone jacks.

Find out more information on both products at Cruzreader.com. Here’s a brief product demo below.
