Fring improves audio, adds support for Samsung Galaxy S

The Skype pipeline may have been cut, but Fring is still chugging along with video chat for Android users. Fring announced today that the latest version of the phone has been updated to improve quality and support for new phones.

The Samsung Galaxy S now supports video calling using the front-facing camera. While the Samsung Epic for Sprint will be the only Galaxy S device in the U.S. with a front-facing camera, the international version of the device works with Fring right now.

Fring has also made “significant audio improvements” to the application. There were previously frequent complaints of echo problems that Fring claimed to fix in a previous update but some users still complained. Now, Fring says it is “fixed (fixed, fixed).” Users will also find “many more bug fixes” that should make for a better experience.

Does this actually work? I have a bell version Galaxy s and downloaded Fring this Sunday, it still used the back camera. And I can't find any setting I can change the camera.

Same here. I tried a call on my Samsung Galaxy S with my friend on his iPhone 4. I could hear and see him clearly, but it was only using the rear cam on my phone and he couldn't hear the audio. This needs to be patched.

my front camera works fine with Fring I can hear and see my caller but after 10 – 15 seconds on a call it keeps hanging up saying device overloaded. this is with my samsung galaxy s 2
