Look who finally decided to show up to the party. Cellular South, that other CDMA network that offers the HTC Hero, is upgrading its phone to Android 2.1. While Sprint managed to update its users back in May, after a long wait, Cellular South remained quiet on its upgrade plans until now. Customers can finally head over to the company’s site and and apply the update that will take them off of Cupcake and switch to Eclair.
Applying the update is easy enough. Download the required software and then read the PDF installation guide that provides step-by-step instructions. Follow directions and you should be up and running in no time.
Once complete, you’ll be able to enjoy the same Android 2.1 features that other HTC Sense users have taken advantage of for the past few months: increased app options, free turn-by-turn Google Maps Navigation, voice dialing, better search, new alarm, multiple Gmail support, homescreen preview, and more.
