Viliv X10: Android tablet with 10 inch display 1366 x 768 display

Android Devices, MID
Laptop has a great article about a 10 inch Android tablet that they recently got to spend some time with, its the Viliv X10 and it was spotted running Android 2.1. And just to clarify, this does not seem to be another Android tablet, in other words this could be the Android tablet that you may want to actually purchase. Of course, I could be saying that because I am already a fan of the other Viliv offerings.
That said, other features of the X10 tablet include a resolution of 1366 x 768, SD card reader, USB port, HDMI out, front facing webcam and Wi-Fi. It was also said to be able to offer up to 10 hours of battery life and possibly have options for either built-in 3G or WiMax.
The device that was on display was running Android 2.1, however Viliv stated that it should be up to 2.2 by the time its ready for release. Additionally, Laptop mentioned that they were “blown away” after watching a 720p trailer for Toy Story 3 and that the X10 should be able to handle 1080p as well.
Unfortunately, this was a display model at Computex 2010 and that means so far there is nothing firm in terms of release or pricing information.

I think I'm drooling…
The iPad can detect and act on 11 simultaneous contact points. It's multi-touch capabilities are without peer. Same with the iPhone. I find my HTC Incredibles multi-touch is not as good or as smooth as the iPhone or iPad. So I'm wondering how good the multi-touch on an Android tablet could be right now. I'll buy an Android tablet for sure at some point. Loving my iPad and totally sold on the tablet concept. Previous 'tablets" from Microsoft were not in the same league. Not in the same universe for that matter.
MS tablets, such as those made by motion computing are used by industry, medical, military and law enforcement – they're productivity devices, not MIDs or oversized PMPs.
As for this viliv….that is a strange res to run android at… will it scale apps coded for standard phone display resolutions? …and no indication on battery life.
I still say that what makes the difference is the operating system. The WIndows OS they run on are designed for PC's of course, and programs are designed in the same mindset. Programs have to be made to take advantage of that form factor, and Windows is a terrible way to go about it.
IPhone and Android, on the other hand, are designed for touch phones to take advantage of its form factor and its touch based input. A tablet is, of course, a larger format of the Touch Phone (and touch MP3, but i digress), and only provides more options for capabilities and performance. a tablet with an OS that works for its design and can do more than a phone is what I think is most important, which, while I hoped the iPad would do alot more, freed up the creative minds. Android I love more than the iPhone OS simply because they have the 'in the cloud' mindset already built into the system, meaning everything can seemlessly connect together unlike the cumbersome clusterf*ck the iphone/mac/ipad integration is. We just need Google to make a massive push to compete with the iPad like they recently started pushing Android with 2.0 and above.
It's going to take quite a bit to compete with the iPad 2 and so far it doesn't look like the Android tablets are doing anything to really stand out. I still think they will eventually catch on, Apple just had such a gigantic lead to work with in this category.
