Back in the day I relied heavily on the Missing Sync, though at the time I was syncing my Treo 650 with my Mac. And while my Treo 650 has long since been replaced the Missing Sync software from Mark/Space is still around. Of course, they have a version for Android users and it seems that version has recently been given an update.
In terms of this particular update, good news for HTC users as it is now compatible with HTC handsets that have Android 2.1 with Sense.
For those that may not be as familiar with the Missing Sync. Well, as you can likely tell by the name — its a syncing app. But more importantly is that is allows you to sync your Android phone with services other than Google. Sure its not all over the air, which makes it not quite as easy, but at least it makes it an option.
Anyway, the Missing Sync program will sync calendars with Outlook, Entourage or iCal ad well contacts with Outlooks, Entourage or Address Book. Additionally, it will sync other goodies including music, video, photos, podcasts and documents as well as backup your call history and text messages.
The only downer here comes in regards to the price — $39.95. Not expensive for what it does, but certainly not free. Either way, if you are looking for a one stop syncing option that includes services other than Google this may be what you are looking for.
