Adobe AIR for Android is now available for developers looking to create Android apps ported from the environment already familiar to thousands of people. Via AndroidGuys comes word that the AIR SDK can be obtained by joining a prerelease program that has some limitations, including Flex 4′s lack of optimization for mobile devices and the inability to share created apps on the Android Market (AIR-built apps require AIR to be delivered to consumers).

AIR is an Adobe development tool that has powered many of your favorite apps on the desktop, including TweetDeck. AIR is popular for its develop once, deploy everywhere ability rather than creating apps for PC and then building another one for Mac. AIR will provide a familiar environment, along with Flash Professional CS5, to make it easier for many to build apps for Android.

Anyone interested in joining the prerelease program can visit Adobe and register now.
