Rumor: GM and Google in talks to bring Android to GM cars

General Motors is reportedly in talk with Google to bring Android into your motor vehicle. According to sources of Motor Trend, GM and Google are in talks to deliver integration with select Android apps and Google services.

Similar to the Ford SYNC service we covered previously, GM’s new service would enhance driving with more mobile services. Motor Trend reports that GM and Google would offer communication between the car and phone, though not all services might make the cut given that GM probably wouldn’t want Google Maps Navigator getting in the way of its OnStar service.

This is still a rumor that won’t be confirmed for some time considering Google and GM are just “in talks” according to the source. If it comes to fruition, GM cars would gain features like integrated controls and playback for Pandora Radio or using a podcast manager. We could even see Google Earth, similar to what Google has already done with the Audi A8.
