Sony Ericsson says the X10′s not getting multitouch…for reals

The Sony Ericsson X10 will not get multitouch. I’m sure you’ve already read that the X10 wouldn’t get multitouch (actually, it’s more accurate to say that it won’t get pinch zoom), and then read seemingly-contradicting suggestions that Sony would offer it when the X10 is upgraded to Android 2.1 in September. However, SE Communication Manager Harold de Kort has reiterated the company line that the X10 will most definitely not receive any update to include pinch zoom because of hardware limitations.
“Multi-touch will not be a feature in future updates for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 because the device does not support multi-touch due to her software and hardware configuration. The operation and user experience of the phone will be further improved and Sony Ericsson will come with her own intuitive way of, for example, zooming in and out.”
- Harold de Kort
It can’t get any clearer than that, people. I honestly don’t see what fascination people have with pinch-zoom. It’s a nice feature to have, but definitely not something that will affect whether or not I buy a phone. We’ve already covered the more legit concerns people should have with the X10, and pinch zoom was an afterthought.
I’m more concerned that when the XPERIA X10 comes to the U.S., supposedly with an AT&T logo on top of it, will it be too late because people already have a newer version of Android? (my money says yes).

Hopefully this will put this thing to rest. I thought it was already after SE commented just as the X10 was launching a few weeks ago, but Engadget's "trusted source" seems to have revived hope for some reason. Anyways, I have to agree. Loving my X10 and not missing the lack of MT.
I figured it wouldn’t since the stated them selves it couldn’t get it because of the hardware then rumors spread saying it would, obviously you don’t believe the rumors. But her? I wasn’t aware the device was a female…
It _would_ be nice, though, if the September update was 2.2. Not likely, of course, considering the necessary lead time for testing, but one could dream of JIT goodness… My recent post Clocks and Ketamine
Gaming will suck without multitouch (think no on screen pad), also multitouch greatly helps with onscreen keyboards Pinch to zoom I can live without
I played games on the X10 and was able to press two points at the same time, so the phone DOES have multitouch. What’s missing is pinch-to-zoom, which people commonly mistaken as meaning multitouch.
…..Multi-touch in which game pray tell…?!!?!?
Well don't really know what SEricsson has to say about MultiTouch, but developer community has already acquired multitouch capability on their Xeprias. here's the link :: http://aliwaqas.info/enable-multitouch-on-sony-er…
