European ash cloud causing delays of HTC Desire on 3UK

If you want an HTC Desire on 3UK, you better race down to a store and hope they have the device in stock; otherwise, you may have to go quite some time before you’re able to finally get the HTC Desire on the carrier.

A massive cloud of ash from a volcano in Iceland has spread over much of Europe, grounding flights and causing billions of dollars in lost revenue for various national economies. The grounded flights have slowed the delivery of HTC’s next batch of Desire phones, so your current option is to purchase the phone online or hope its available at one of 50 retailers that will carry the device in-store.

We’ve already seen that high demand led to stock problems for the HTC Desire at Orange UK, so an unintended consequence like this will probably make matters worse in the immediate future. Even worse is that there’s no telling when this ash cloud will disappear.
