Droid Incredible available in limited supply at Verizon stores?

Earlier this morning, Androinica.com staff writer Chris went to a local Verizon store to inquire about the Droid Incredible. Chris was surprised to learn that the store had only 20 units and were selling the Incredible only to new customers or subscribers willing to upgrade. Current Verizon customers can purchase a Droid Incredible in full if they wish, but they’ll have to wait for a new phone to be shipped to them next week. (Note: I’m not sure if this is an official policy of every store, so explore your options at your local store)
Similar stories are popping up in various places as it seems that the supply for the Droid Incredible is likely to fall short of demand. If you want a Droid Incredible, you may want to scoot down to the local Verizon store or Best Buy during your lunch break (I recommend Best Buy so you can get the instant $100 rebate rather than a mail-in).
New Droid Incredible users should take a gander at our Android Beginner’s Guide and our recently updated Incredible Apps: 60 Best Android Apps post. I’d like to expound more, but I’m on my way to the Verizon store right now.

I went to the verizon store at like 9:30 and there were a bunch of people getting one. The rep that was helping me I already knew and he said they only had 30 in stock. We have two stores in my town, so I figure there were only 60 total here. If you have been with verizon long enough you can get the instant rebate. I got a incredible and a eris(wife) and on both I was able to get instant rebates. The incredible also came with a 2 gig card off the shelf. He said if I pay $10 I could get the 4 gig.
