Dropbox finally reveals details and photos of its Android app

It looks like I can cross at least one app off my “11 Android Apps I Hope to See in 2010” list. Dropbox teased us this morning with a blog post revealing some details off the app, but quickly removed the entry after it was published. The information has since been re-posted and DropBox is showing off some screenshots and features of the app, which is set to be released “in the coming months.”

Dropbox is a cloud storage service that can sync content between multiple computers. I have it running on my laptop and two desktops, allowing me to sync documents, photos, and other files between each device without any effort. The mobile device will do the same and deliver Dropbox content to Android devices (this will be especially useful when we get more tablets).

According to the blog post, all Dropbox content will be available for viewing on the phone, including streaming music or movies stored in your account.

You’ll be able to edit and re-sync files from your mobile device. If a file is deleted on the phone, Dropbox will update the cloud storage and any computer connected to the account.

Uploading will also be possible. Photos or videos shot on your camera phone can go to Dropbox.

Much like the desktop, people will also be able to share certain files. The kicker is that Dropbox for Android will be able to share ANY Dropbox file via Bluetooth, Facebook, Gmail, SMS, or Picasa.

  I suppose it depends how you use it. I'm a web developer and use Dropbox to store all my website files. This way, they are automatically backed-up, have version control and are available across all my different computers. I also use it for storing all my e-books and PDF's etc I use Evernote more for note-taking and storing little snippets of information.
