AT&T advertises the Backflip, makes fun of Verizon, forgets to mention Android

Android Phones, AT&T, Carriers, Motorola, Verizon
A few new commercials have recently been released from AT&T, and they seem to be doing what they do best — poking fun at the other carriers — more specifically poking fun at Verizon Wireless. The new commercials are interesting to say the least, they feature the recently released Motorola Backflip which should make Android fans happy, except AT&T does not seem to mention Android — not even once.
Now this is just my opinion here, but it seems as if AT&T has no idea what the real power behind Android is. Take for example the fact that they removed Google as the default search in favor of Yahoo on the Backflip. Hey AT&T, the Backflip is running Android — that should be a Google phone.
Then putting the lack of Android advertising aside, AT&T has simply returned to the whole surfing the web and talking at the same time argument. Really? Now don’t get me wrong, that can be nice if needed, but as someone who uses a smartphone on AT&T as well as a smartphone on Verizon I can say that I do not miss the ability to surf and talk when on Verizon. Why? Because for me that need does not come up all that often.
Anyway, for those still interested, the commercials are both below for your viewing pleasure.

I have T-Mobile and I too can surf and be on the phone at the same time. Verizon is doing something wierd . At T-Mobile, Voice and Data travil over different frequencies. Verizon should address this. I guess they can’t even surf over wifi and be on the phone at the same time.
With Verizon, you can surf over wifi and talk at the same time, but CDMA can't handle data and voice at once. Sprint has the same issue.
quite browsing cached pages…idiot
I have tested surfing an talking and it works on verizon. Both with my Droid (wifi turned off) and my wife's BB Storm (no wifi).
Has there ever been ANY phone commercial that mentioned Android? There were/are tons of Droid commercials, and I don't remember any of them mentioning the operating system. I agree that AT&T removing the Google from the Backflip is a big mistake on their part, so certainly bash them for that. But it's not really fair to get on them for a lack of mentioning Android, when Verizon is just as guilty. For the record, I'm on T-Mobile and I know I can talk and surf the web at the same time, but I've NEVER need to (or even wanted to). Way to base your entire campaign on a pretty meaningless feature, AT&T.
No one can book a room on their AT&T phone that fast. In a large city that process takes a minimum of 10 minutes. You will get a "network connection failed" message a few times, cuss quite a bit wonder if anything will load, start over a few times and then tell the person on the phone you will have to call them back cause your phone isn't doing what you expected. Just sayin.
I think AT&T didn’t “forget” to mention Android- they just understand how to talk to consumers, who haven’t heard of Android and don’t want to hear of Android- they don’t care what the technology they use is called, but only what it does for them. Isn’t that exactly the way it should be? Unless the market for Android is intended to be just engineers and scientists, in which case I’d have to say that AT&T made a mistake buying into it. They need to sell more than a couple of cases of these phones.
They don't care about what it can do for them.. at least not the majority of consumers. If they did, they'd stop buying crap featurephones like the LG env.
It's all good guys, let them advertise all they want for the Backflip. The Army keeps growing, that's all I care about. I hope Google buys palm to appeal to the female market. Last I read the majority of android users were male so there is much ground to make up. But no worries about AT&T, they'll get the nexus one soon enough and tout the Google=Android functionality.
Changing to yahoo search is a huge mistake. The best part of Android is how integrated everything is. From GMail, to the contacts, to Google Voice, and yes, the search results. If I'm searching for a restaurant or a church, or a hospital, the results show the web results, but also one touch buttons to call or navigate to the location. I'm not sure how well Yahoo results will integrate with the phone, maps, contacts, etc. Big mistake.. but then again, we're talking about AT&T. Did anyone really expect anything different?
Will the backflip ever come out for verizon?
So, I hear that Motorola canceled the update planned for the Backflip in Q3. Evidently the rumor is that since there are more expensive phones for sale, AT&T wants it delayed so they can serll more expensive phones meanwhile those of us hoh bought our phones already are stuck in the slow lane being ignored by Motorola because of AT&T marketing wanting to make more money & forgetting those of us who supported the earlier devices. Am I to be stuck in a phone for 2 years that won't get an upgrade because of money grubbing bastages not keeping their promises? Thanks for throwing me under the bus.
