AT&T customers now have an option when it comes to Android handsets with the Motorola Backflip. As of this weekend, AT&T has made the Backflip available for those willing to pay $99.99 and agree to a two year commitment. Of course that $99.99 price tag comes after a mail-in-rebate which means you will have to pay $199.99 to get out the door.
Feature wise there is nothing surprising here, but just to recap. The Motorola Backflip has a 3.1-inch (320 x 480) HVGA touchscreen display, 5-megapixel camera, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth 2.0, aGPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a microSD card slot as well as 256MB of RAM and 512MB ROM. Additionally the Backflip has a unique full QWERTY keyboard and is running Android OS 1.5 with MOTOBLUR.
Additionally, the Motorola Backflip can also be purchased for $349.99 contract free which all things considered is not all that bad of a price.
And with that the decision for AT&T customers is here, snap up the first Android offering or sit back and wait for the other options that we expect are coming. Personally I am no longer an AT&T customer but if I were I am thinking I would be holding out.
