Following the rollout map of recent product debuts, Google has made an app previously useable only on Android 2.0 work on Android 1.6. Google Gesture Search now supports phones that have Donut, including the T-Mobile G1 and myTouch phones.
The Gestures app makes it possible for Android users to quickly search their contacts by performing swipes that resemble letters. As the person continues to type, the phone recognizes the number and narrows down the contact list for entries that contain those letters. The same works for bookmarks, applications, or songs stored on the phone. The app is available in multiple countries, but it still supports only the English alphabet at the moment.
