Steve Jobs disses Android, Flash, everything non-Apple

Steve Job was talking a lot of trash against Apple’s competitors, including Android and Flash, during an internal meeting, according to various reports.
According to a paraphrased account over on Wired, Jobs said of Google’s Android teams “We did not enter the search business … they entered the phone business. Make no mistake they want to kill the iPhone. We won’t let them.” He also reportedly said Google’s motto of “Don’t be evil,” is BS.
Other reports said Apple is prepping new features for future versions of the iPhone OS that will be far ahead of anything Google can do. Look for more bad blood to surface between Apple and Google because the two are rapidly becoming the leaders in the smartphone space (maybe not in terms of sheer units, but definitely in mindshare).
He also called Adobe “lazy” because most of the crashes on Safari are from plug-ins like Flash. That’s actually a solid point but Adobe probably hasn’t been too concerned with a Mac platform that has less than 5% of the market.

"Make no mistake they want to kill the iPhone. We won’t let them.”
Sure, and 20 years ago they didn't think IBM would kill the Mac, but it did. People in general don't appreciate closed systems that forces them to buy everything from one conglomerate vendor.
I agree. Mr. Jobs doesn't seem to be learning anything from the past. The customer wins in this competition. Let them duke it out as long as the innovation approves.
Not to defend Jobs but as the report says, it is an internal meeting comment. Internally, we say stuff about the "other guy" that isn't meant for public consumption. Personally, the fact that someone blabbed hits me more than the fact of Jobs' comment.
Specifically about his comments – "We won't let them" – sounds like a call to action to me. Nothing bad about that. The rest of the market should be Thankful to Apple, for the OS and the i-Whatever. They are driving innovation on a lot of levels. With PC's, they may not own much of the market, but the sure know how to push things in a direction. You have to give them that.
Bottom line, I'm keepin' my Droid. It does what I need it to better than the "other guy".
Well Said Paul!
been a typo, Your blog looks good. Have a nice day.
Excellent site, keep up the good work. I read a lot of forums on a daily basis and for the most part, people lack substance but, I just wanted to make a quick comment to say I’m glad I found your forum. Thanks.

I totally agree that Apple is driving innovation on a lot of levels and don't get me wrong, so does Google. I just don't get why Android fans are talking trash of the iPhone and say things like iPhone users have nothing substantial to do rather than play with App-store apps all the time when there are so many more apps for the business user as well. If you want people to get your point brag about what Android offers to what type of user and let them make their decision instead of accusing competing platforms. To be fair this "war" was not initiated by Apple, they just had to join it somehow afterwards.
