Nexus One launching on Vodafone in April

According to the Telegraph, the Google Nexus One is coming to Vodafone UK in April. There is no definitive date for release but according to the “source’s close to both companies (Google and Vodafone)” the Nexus One will be released a month later than expected. There is no word on the price but it will most likely be close to the price of the iPhone.

Something that may be even more interesting than the release of the Nexus One is that HTC is releasing another phone in the Europe, the HTC Desire around the same time. The Nexus One and the Desire are practically the same phone other than HTC’s Sense UI on the Desire. Is this going to be a huge mistake for Google and HTC or is this to show consumers how flexible and unique Android devices can be?

We have seen the countless reports the past months on how Android is “forking” it’s development between Android 1.6 and Android 2.x, but is it possible Android can be split because of devices as well? I think so. I believe that with many different devices that run different versions of the same OS consumers are confused and because of the confusion it is only a matter of time before they move from Android to something that is more consistent. Google and their partners can fix this if they make sure that their devices fit into Android’s product timeline.

Who would have thought that we would be complaining about too many good devices to choose from?
